One More Mile
Composição: Marisa Narciso. The sun is leaning low against the pine trees
Painting shadows long across the hood
There’s a soft wind blowing through the open window
Whispering that life is looking good
I’m just taking in the rhythm of the blacktop
Letting all the city noise fade away
Don’t need a map to tell me where I’m headed
I’ll just find another mile to finish out the day
(Find another mile to finish out the day)
There’s a roadside stand selling peaches and honey
A hand-painted sign leaning near the gate
I don’t have a clock and I don’t need the money
The best things in life are the ones that can wait
I’m just taking in the rhythm of the blacktop
Letting all the city noise fade away
Don’t need a map to tell me where I’m headed
I’ll just find another mile to finish out the day
(Find another mile to finish out the day)
No flashing lights or a deadline to meet
Just the humming of tires on a two-lane street
The radio’s playing a song I once knew
And the sky’s turning gold, then a deep shade of blue
I might stop the truck where the creek hits the hollow
And watch how the water winds over the stone
There’s no heavy lead for a shadow to follow
Just me and the quiet, but I’m not alone
I’m just taking in the rhythm of the blacktop
Letting all the city noise fade away
Don’t need a map to tell me where I’m headed
I’ll just find another mile to finish out the day
(Find another mile to finish out the day)
(One more mile)
(Just one more mile)
